Galaxy Exhaust Emission

Featured Replies

Hi, my Galaxy failed it MOT today on exhaust emission. Could anyone help me with this problem please.

It's a N reg

99,000 miles on clock

2 litre

The results where as follows

Engine oil Temp; Temp gauge checked

fast idle test;

limits Actual value

co; 0.3% 1.56% FAIL

HC; 200 ppm 138ppm PASS

upside down y; 0.97-1.03 0.965 FAIL

2nd fast idle test;

co; 0.3% 1.43% FAIL

HC; 200 ppm 72 ppm PASS

upside down y; 0.97-1.03 0.964 FAIL

natural idle test;

co; 0.5% 2.25% FAIL

this didn't come out on the post how i laid it out. the first numbers are the limits and the red numbers my results.

Think i've listed everything, it did over heat a few time about august time. I replaced the themastate, the temp gauge doesn't go any higher than the N on the gauge around the city and on the main roads just above the white square. Don't no if this is normal or even relevant to my question.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who try and help me

sounds like you have a few issues the temps a bit high the co2 is high so it could be a lot of things really the engines almost at 100k so could be valve seats it could be worn pistons the cat the lambda sensort or a mixture taking it to a garage is best they can test all the parts that need tested
