Trying to update sync...help needed please

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2014 focus with Sync 1 (1.1 ?).

So far I have...

I've been on the Ford website, put the VIN number in and it says there is a update.

Formatted a 8gb usb to Fat32.

Downloaded the file.

Extracted the files onto the usb

Put usb into car and gone through the instructions to update.

All I get is that the file isn't found on the device, make sure usb is inserted properly and the file is in the root of the usb.

Can someone please help?

What will the update be anyway? Maps etc..?

Thanks folks

The SYNC update only updates the APIM (SYNC) module. It will not update the map material. The map material is stored onto the SD-card. To update the map material you have to replace the SD-card for a newer version.

It is a known problem that the update file from Ford contains a corrupted text file. This can be corrected by altering the XML file manually or by downloading the file from a different location.

Aah, right.. Thanks for that.

Well I've tried everything I can think of and still can't get it in there.

It's got to be something I'm doing wrong as I'm very uncomputery.

Can anyone give me a mega basic, total dummies guide please?

Cheers folks

Have a look at my build thread.

Basically find the .lst file and put line breaks in.

That list file is the first place the sync system looks to see what files there should be. The list is effectively all on one line so it doesn't see them properly.

There is an example of what the file should look like in my build thread or a thread called something like "anyone  managed to update sync 1.1"
