MK2 Boot Floor Insert?

Featured Replies

Have any MK2 owners seen this? As in the foam around the spare wheel? It appears to raise the boot floor. Was it standard or optional?

It's an option on the mk2.  Means you can fit a full size spare in the wheel well, at the expense of a bit of boot capacity.

Ahhhh! I should really just look at the manual. Images were taken from a 2005 MK2 Ghia with 27,000 miles on the clock and a LONG list of options...just a shame they went for the nice beige interior option 😞

I have this in mine, great for storage!

Tom can you really get a full size wheel in there ? The picture looks like it's got the obligatory pram wheel in there with not a lot more room above the tyre to fit a full width alloy. Anyway I would also like to get one of these, look at all those cubby holes to put things in, brilliant, anyone got a part number?

It was designed for a full size steel wheel with 205/55/16 tyre.  Not sure if a 17" ZS alloy would be too deep.  Not sure about a part number but they can be found online.

Ahh I see, I've got 225/40/18 on my car so I'm guessing it won't fit, anyway I'm definitely not paying £85 for some foam, I thought they'd be about £20-£30.

They're expensive now as they were a rare option, don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

Sure you could knock up something to do the same job out of a few metres of 2x4 fairly cheap.  Check the 18" actually fits in the wheel well first though.

That's what I was thinking, I'm no noah, I'd never be able to build an ark, but was thinking of making something out of MDF just don't know how to get around the curves of the tyre, I'll probably just leave it if I'm honest, I've never got time to spit let alone build a boot enclosure, 63 hours on nights last week, s every week's the same, still got gel overlays to fit I've had since February 😟

Have you got a jigsaw?  Easily cut rounded edges with those.

Lack of time is obviously an issue though...on the plus side you must be earning enough to just buy the foam lol!

I'll probably get this eventually, and maybe a spare Ghia alloy instead of a steely. Not sure yet...only just arranged to go pick up my 'new' bonnet on Saturday (had that bought off eBay for weeks but could never arrange a good time to get until 2 days ago). So glad the dent is gone!
