Will a brake kit from a st250 fit my zetec s. Both mk3

Featured Replies

I want to put some bigger brakes on my car.  The car is a 2012 mk3 Ford Focus zetec s 1.6 180bhp.    After looking ugh it looks like no one sells a upgrade for my specific car.

so just need to know if I buy say a big brake kit for a mk3 st will it bolt on to my car.

thanks

The 320 mm front ST250 brakes are fully compatible with all other Focus MK3/MK3.5 versions. This means that a big brake kit that is designed for the ST250 will also fit to all different Focus MK3/MK3.5 versions.

Be aware that most big brake kits require at least 18 Inch wheels (some even require 19 Inch wheels). Next to this it may also be necessary to install wheel spacers to obtain enough clearance between the wheels and the brake calipers.

Also note that a particular size front brake discs need to be combined with the corresponding size rear brake discs. Next to this the brake size is configured intor the Central Car Configuration of the Focus MK3/MK3.5.  When installing a different size of brakes it also needs to be changed in the configuration otherwise the car may become unstable during heavy braking.

A big brake kit is a bit overkill on a 1.6 ECOboost in my opinion. If you want to upgrade to bigger brakes I would suggest to install the original 350 mm Focus MK3 RS brakes.

yeah cheers mate.   i thought myself i dont need a big break kit and the rs brakes will do what i need.

it was to more fill the wheel space a bit more because the brakes look too small on mine.

i have fitted 18" team dynamics pro 1.2's already with spacers.  even though my car has been remapped rs brakes will comfortably do what i want.

i have big plans for the car so dont want to scrimp on things

Yes using the Focccus software you can do it yourself, you will need a ELM327 cable to plug into a laptop, I believe their is also apps you can use on your phone now
