Tweeters

Featured Replies

Ok a little bit pee'd off at the minute. My GF bought me a set of Alpine mids and tweeters for the front doors (3 door 2010 Zetec S) and after 9 months the drivers side tweeter blew.Went to local place that fitted them (just hadnt had the time) abd they replaced the pair under warranty.7 months later the same side has blown yet again! I remember when Alpine back in the day were half decent but now id run a mile!

Now they are a fairly slim Tweeter so wondering if anyone has any recommendations for which replacement tweeters to go for to fit into the panel (By wing mirror). On a bit of a tight budget as im getting alloys done but anything around the £50 mark would be brilliant.Ill keep hunting though and see what i can find.....but please no Alpines ;-)

If the same side has blown twice, that would suggest a problem with your car, wouldn't it? I'm no expert on car audio systems, but is it possible there is a problem with the wiring or amp which would cause the speakers to blow?

Or have you just got your music on too damn loud?😉😄😅

Hiya Phil,

Thanks for your input . Ok im sitting on the fence here ;-)

Back in the 90's i used to do big audio installs so had a good idea what i was doing.Sadly health and age means i leave it to the youngsters haha . I fitted the mids and seperate tweeters a while back and worked great then door one blew. Then as i said the door one is buzzing badly but funny enough my nephew was in the passenger seat and said it sounded bad on his side too! Both are buzzing badly. When the replacement one was fitted i doubted myself so took it to the pro to fit the warranty tweeter and check over what i did.He gave me the thumbs up. Got a low all round upgrade and the only amp is a 250w running a 10 inch bass. Not into the shaking the car anymore just want a bit of a punch to me music.

BUT the part i cant deny is i do still turn the music up load but the speakers are rated to easily take whats given out ;-)
