BP2411
Hello everyone! Just popped over from the fiesta forum to ask a question on behalf of my brother in law. He has a 2011 Focus estate and has had problems with the alarm since day one, he has warranty on it but it's useless. He took it to get looked at recently and was told it's an electrical fault they can't fix. I'll cut to the point, it's now at the stage where he disconnects his battery every night as the alarm goes off when it wants. Is there a way to disable the alarm? Obviously by disconnecting the battery he has no alarm anyway and would rather disable the alarm than disconnect the battery all the time. Cheers! JW1982
If the alarm is original/factory fitted it can easily be deactivated with a suitible diagnostic system.
BP2411
Yes it is the original alarm, would this be done using forscan?
JW1982
A 2011 can either be a late MK2.5 or an early MK3. On the MK2.5 the ELMconfig program is the easiest way to achieve this. On the MK3 the FoCCCus program or Forscan program is the easiest way to achieve this
pragmatix
It's often the bayonet catch sensor that fails Try unplugging the bonnet catch and shorting out the connector it's a 2 pin so just bend a paper clip to make a contact..
BP2411
I'm trying to get in touch with him to find out if it's a MK2.5 or 3 and what's setting the alarm off but no answer yet. Do all 3 programs run on a laptop as I see forscan on the playstore but would prefer to use a laptop and a modified cable than a phone / tablet via bluetooth / WiFi. Is tunnel rat still the go to? BP2411
It keeps saying the passenger door is open and he's been told to take it to an auto electrician but would rather just turn the alarm off.
JW1982
In this case the problem is most likely caused by a defective lock.
BP2411
He said it's a MK3, would you recommend foCCCus or forscan and would you use a modified usb or Bluetooth/WiFi? Is tunnel rat the go to for the modified elm327?
JW1982
Personally I prefer the FoCCCus program for the Focus MK3. I only use a USB ELM327 interface for configurating and/or reprogramming. The USB ELM327 has a much more stable connection than a WI/FI or bluetooth one. From what I heard the interfaces from Tunnelrat are decent quality and work fine.
