please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  can I claim off ford for faulty design issues on engine causing major mechanical failures and a very costly difficult repair by my mechanic ( whose been scratching his head,frustrating with problem).  cutting out , not starting ,  randomly or when cold.  at first fuel filter,then fuel pump,then injectors, then pistons and o rings and so on.!!!!!!!! seems to me from reading a lot of forums and chat websites that my cars issues are due ford failing to do RECALLS on parts/issues that they are trying to deliberately coverup/hide .if this is the case then FORD should be made to admit sort out these outstanding issues for sake of their own reputation , which in my opinion has been seriously affected. if any one can offer advice on this I would be extremely grateful .

Sadly you have very little recourse for claiming repair damages against Ford on the basis of design faults.

Especially when the car (2000 mondeo ? ) in question is 18 years old

If you purchased the car fairly recently you could seek compensation from the garage you bought it from under existing consumer protection laws in a small claims court on the grounds it was sold not fit for purpose - if this scenario applies to your situation

 But realistically you just need to become aware of when a car becomes uneconomical to repair and get rid
