Fiesta ST Full Vinyl Wrap | Material / Colour Recommendations Please??

Featured Replies

Title pretty much covers it.

Thanks!

I had my Focus wrapped nearly three years ago... at the time I remember very quickly narrowing my search down to 3M and Avery Dennison as manufacturers of the wrap. The Avery catalogue is here showing all the finishes they have available, 3M catalogues here and here. I found it helpful to google search for each of the colours I considered (e.g. "Avery gloss indigo blue" - which is what I ended up with) to find examples of cars that had been wrapped in that colour.

Having lived with the vinyl wrap for a few years I'm not entirely sure that I'd have another one, but may consider doing it to my Fiesta ST in the future as I love the idea of completely transforming the car and getting something that looks unique. Getting a wrap was definitely the right decision for my Focus because I'd had numerous dents repaired, replaced two doors, the tailgate and a bumper and had a previous paint repair that had not aged well so it was a much cheaper alternative to getting a full respray. The car looked great and I was very happy with it but I it was just never as good as a decent paint finish.

Thanks for taking the time Dan!

After looking through the Avery / 3m catalogue i can see this is going to be a tough decision, there's just so much to choose from. However i seem to be drawn to the more bright vibrant such as the Avery pearl light green which honestly seems fitting considering my namesake.

I'll be sure to post some pictures when i eventually bite the bullet.

Oh and just out of curiosity, how much did the your full wrap on the focus cost? and did this include the door shuts/sills?

The wrap cost £1125. I did not get door shuts and returns done but I was quoted
£270 for two doors and £520 for four.

I think that green would look great on a Fiesta. I think I'd go for the matte metallic purple.

A matte metallic purple would look class I rekon.

I'm being quoted £1500 for full wrap with sills / shuts which seems to be the average across the country.

Sounds a reasonable price. I'd advise going to see some examples of their work up close so that you can see the quality of their work and attention to detail (especially around all of the fiddly bits which require careful stretching and cutting). Most of the professional wraps I've seen have been very good but I've seen a couple that weren't very good up close.

Don't worry, I will be checking everything before I make a decision on which company to have the work carried out.

I've already had my car partially wrapped in gloss black (roof & wing mirrors) also had my lights smoked at the same company. This was maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

The smoke film they used has started to bubble / peel and the wing mirrors aren't great either! However they've promised to remidy the issues and were all apologetic and such.

I've attached a photo of my mirror, quite laughable really!

Sounds like you've got a forward plan already and some good advice.

I was going to say that @kpg's input might be worthwhile here - he's very knowledgeable on such things!

Post pics of whatever you go for!!

@nathangreenbean

Wing mirrors: That doesn't look to hot at all pal. In my experience thats a telltale sign of cutting/trimming on the car which is a proper no-no. When they're stripping it off to redo I'd inspect the paintwork for knife marks/slices. Or better yet, take the mirror covers off yourself and hand them to the guys for wrapping.

Headlights: Not much experience in tinting but bubbling could be the heat off the headlights heating up any trapped air, which there also shouldn't be if it was done right.

I wrapped my Focus myself this time last year, got the stuff free at work. Easy enough to do tbh but as I did it in a rush it wasn't perfect around the intricate edges/corners.

Thanks @kpg I'll check for cut marks when i have a spare 5 to rip them off.

I've done a bit of wrapping on my previous car's wing mirror covers and wrapped them in carbon fibre. I'd agree with @kpg that the wrap may have been cut as that happened to mine on a hot summers day where it began to shrink and I cut it around the edges
