dtulip8
Hi all, I've never jacked a car up before, but I need to now. I tried doing it yesterday, by putting the trolley jack in the indent underneath the car but it made a bit of an odd noise. I'm worried about bending the chassis seam basically, and would appreciate it if someone could tell me how and also where to put the jack stands. williamweb
Jacking up on the seam with a rubber pad and then using an axle stand safely is ideal for changing a wheel or working on a brake.
south_bound
I've made up a piece of wood with a slot just like that picture, works well for me.
dtulip8
Does the rubber/wood protect the seam then? And can I fit the jack stand in the same spot? I need both front wheels off the ground to undo a hose under the engine.
williamweb
An axle stand positioned under a solid seam is fine for when working on your car just off the ground.Any higher and I personally wouldn’t use the seam.
