About to look at an ST-2

Featured Replies

Hey all, I use to own a 1L Ecoboost, Saturday I am off to see a Fiesta ST-2, has cruise etc, 20k miles and seems a good price, also has Mountune 215, is there any common things to look for?

Has full FSH, recent 2 front new tyres.

I had 1 from new in 2014 - this is when they had the metal valves in the tyres which corroded into the wheel causing the air to escape - new wheels and rubber valves replaced under warranty so check it has rubber valves

Door sill protector lights also common failure (should come on when door opened)

This is a 2013, has a recall as I have checked on its mot history, only one advisory which is brake disc pitted or scored but not seriously weakened, just worried about the cambelt even though it should be changed every 10 years I am tempted to get it done as well as both front discs.

20000 miles isn't a lot for discs unless it's been tracked, they probably just need a clean/ skim, also low miles and 5 years seems a bit early for a cambelt so unless you can get the dealer to do it as part of the sale i'd wait (saves some money) and enjoy it

It's a private sale, I also have a disklock from my prevous car I can use on it, will also disable ODB and put stickers on that it's been disabled.

After reading another thread here, make sure the catalytic converter hasn't been removed.
