Fiesta MK7 drum-to-disc rear axle swap using MK8 parts?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade the rear brakes on my Fiesta MK7.5 1.0 S from the stock drums to discs.

Ideally, I would just source a rear axle beam from a Fiesta MK7 ST, but here in Spain, finding MK7 ST scrap or spare parts has become virtually impossible. However, there is plenty of availability for MK8 1.0 parts.

This leaves me with a few questions that I hope the community can help with:

  • Compatibility: Can I swap the complete rear axle beam from a Fiesta MK8 (with factory disc brakes) directly onto a MK7 chassis? Are the mounting points and dimensions identical?

  • Hub/Spindle Swap: If the whole axle beam doesn't fit, can I bolt the MK8 rear spindles, hubs, calipers, and carriers directly onto my existing MK7 drum axle beam?

  • Handbrake & Lines: Will I need the handbrake cable from the MK8, or should I look for a MK7 ST cable? What about the brake lines?

  • ABS Sensor: Do the MK8 ABS sensors play nice with the MK7 management system, or will I need to swap the sensors?

If anyone has attempted this specific cross-generation swap or has access to compatibility data, I would greatly appreciate your insight!
