Daytime running lights replacement

Featured Replies

Hi all

I bought a second hand fiesta from local dealer a few weeks ago. It was advertised as having LED daytime running lights. Sadly it doesn't. It has standard DTRL.

I was trying to find out if it is possible to retrofit LED daytime running lights, but I can't find much info online.

I know Ford sells Osram LED kit to convert fog lights, but my local Ford dealership is unable to tell me how many labour hours will be needed and what extra stuff may be needed, for example wirers etc.

Can anyone tell me please what is the best way to retrofit LED daytime running lights or how much would it be reasonable for me to ask for compensation from the dealer I bought the car from. Any help will be much appreciated.

I’m sure you can get the genuine LED headlights off eBay for about £150 for the pair in good condition.

They’ll either be a straight swap or they’ll need activating by using a tool like Forscan or the dealer.

Can you please provide some links? Any details on how much installation will cost?

It's fiesta from 2015. Zetec. 5 doors.

Well you can search this forum for previous comments on fitting, but the lights are a direct replacement.

i know there’s a guy who will activate various mods using Forscan, or you can buy an ‘ELM327’ cable (£15?),  off eBay and download from Forscan.org and do it yourself. I guess it’s a £50 job if you ask someone or the dealer to do it for you.

"how much would it be reasonable for me to ask for compensation from the dealer I bought the car from". No idea, can you prove the car was worth less with non-LED than if it had LED. The difference in value is probably what you could ask for.  Actually is there any difference?  Why are you so keen to have LED DLRs

. Although they cost more to spec when new, I don’t believe they add any extra value to the car when it comes to trade in. if you had 2 identical cars next to each other and the only difference was the type of DRL then I doubt the garage pull justify anything more than £5 difference. However, on the Fez if you have the DRL units don’t you also get the projector lenses as opposed to the reflector type? Same halogen type bulbs but different housing??
