What cloth for dash and leather cleaner for seats is best to use.

Featured Replies

What is the best cloth to use to polish the dash,i have a lot of Black plastic like radio/heater surround so dust it mad and i wipe it and its back,i do use static free cloth with no joy.

Also i use Meguiar's Gold Class leather cleaner which makes them nice and clean but they finish dull and don't give them that bit of a shine, its good but not the best in my opinion.

This has good reviews       https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chamberlains-Leather-Milk-Conditioner-Saddleback/dp/B007ZDDUCK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1533396955&sr=8-3&keywords=Chamberlain’s+Leather+Milk+Conditioner+and+Cleaner

I did read another one in the reviews but forgot the name, said it was very good for UV rays and rain water say when you get into your car and either some comes

on the seat or your are soaked and sit on the seat.

I'd use a microfiber cloth. Haven't tried cleaning the dash but I'd use microfiber for cleaning the car.

For leather cleaning I use a company called leatherlock. They have a kit which contains a cleaner, conditioner and sealant along with a cloth. Their leather cleaning brush is cheap to. It made a big difference on the driver seat making it matte again. The seats felt really smooth. Their sealant is claimed to protect against friction damage. DSC_0351.thumb.JPG.d1d0207fd51bdea2084c900b90514cb9.JPG

For cloth chemical guys do a upholstery cleaner I think called lightning fast upholstery cleaner. I used it on a car my dad was selling and it managed to remove stains on the cloth seats. I used a toothbrush to agitate it in then used a microfiber cloth to clean it off. It would still be damp so I'd suggest leaving it overnight.

For the leather cleaner there are so many out there, this Gold does a great job but i read about making it slippy a bit which it does.

I did want one if i could with the cleaner/conditioner all in one and then i could put sealant on it if needed or if there is one that does all 3.

The dash i have tried a nice few cloths but don't know if anyone on here got a good quality one or different one that works a bit better, tried micro ones but cheap one.

Colourlock sell a kit which contains a cleaner, conditioner and rag. You'd have to buy the brush and sealant separately. I also forgot but I found the kit cheaper on amazon and its sold buy the company themselves. They say to clean it every 3 months.

To be honest the cleaning is kind of the labour intensive part. Applying the conditioner and sealant you just put it on the rag and rub it in nicely. It also looks to temporarily take off creases and I think you can see on the pictures.

It looks good just being all in one it saves a lot more time,i do do mine about every 3 months but seeing if there is any better stuff out there or what

others use as i have only used the Meguiar's Gold Class which i had i think from Amazon a while ago.

As for the cleaning cloth i have looked on ebay but knowing me it will be like a £1 shop one then person selling it for £5,are all micro cloths the same or is it make.

I think your buying quality when it comes to microfiber. You can get some which are really soft and plush which you'd use for wiping off polish residue after machine polishing. I'd mainly use a soft cloth for when I'm wiping off the finish spray on the paintwork as I want to minimise scratches. I bought a bunch of microfiber from pound land and still use them now. Would say they are decent to use for the interior. I have noticed though that when I'd be wiping off a large amount of dust in the interior sometimes it somehow turns into a mark.

There is a huge variation in microfibre cloths, you want to try and find the softest ones possible for the dash, ideally lint free as well, difficult to buy online as you need to feel them really.  The gloss dash section where the radio is and the plastic fascia in front of the dials scratches very easily with cheap, rough microfibres, if you've ever wondered how swirls end up on the dash, that's how lol.

For cleaning leather you want a rougher cloth to very slightly abrade the top surface.  The big brand like Auto Glym and Megs specifically want to leave a matt finish to the leather, a lot of people don't like shiny leather as it looks cheap/fake.

I do see your point with the shine against a Matt finish, got to say the Gold i use don't leave a shine but a like new  look just seems slippy but got to say does smell great.

Just wanted to see what others use and what results they get but did want a all-in-one bottle with clean/conditioner.

As for the cloths i have seen some on eBay which got great Feedback and sold thousands but i will see and only £12 i think for 10 as only be used for dash/plastics.
