1.6 tdci zetec s

Featured Replies

Purchased a 2014 zetec s yesterday with city pack I believe (Sat nav, electric windows in rear etc) I'm collecting it next weekend.

Just after abit of info.

Is it cam belt or timing chain?

What mpg should I expect to get from it?

its a cambelt on the 1.6 tdci. my average is coming up at 67 mpg according to the onboard screen whether it’s accurate or not im not sure.

City pack is parking sensors and powerfold mirrors, I think you've got convenience pack or just a few random options.

Belt change interval is 10 years or 100k so should be good for a while on a 14 reg car.

The trip computer over reads quite badly, my TC average is 63mpg, actual average is 58mpg, and that didn't include air con use as it doesn't work.

It has power fold mirrors, parking sensors front and rear, electric windows front and back, Sat nav and auto park. Quite abit of kit to be fair.

That sounds good , a lot better than my 2010 petrol 1.6 zetec s at the minute. And the tax is cheap too

I have 2015 1.5tdci Fiesta. I have monitored the MPG over 20k miles and the trip computer mpg is always about 5% out (saying it is 5% higher mpg than it really achieves).  I have been using aircon quite a bit in the last few months and I can say that there has been no noticable change in mpg (which suprised me quite a bit). I do about 350 miles per week.

Yeah that's a lot more than just city pack, unusual on a ZS as well!

Diesel MPG will obviously be better than petrol MPG, but you do have to do the mileage for them, if you only do short drives best to keep clear of diesels with DPFs.

How often do they need a good run to clear the DPF?

I only manage 55mpg (according to the computer), mix of rural & urban.

There are too many variables to say unfortunately, traffic, speed, temp, time etc.  The Focus also doesn't come with a DPF light on the dash, so you don't even know when it's needing a regen.

I get about 53mpg showing on my 2006 fiesta zetec s 1.6 TDCi so I'm sure you'd get more than me as your car is newer. This is during the British weather I get this sort of mpg at the moment it gone down to 45mpg as I'm using the AC in this heatwave

How do you keep them from blocking is it something like 20 minutes continuous driving over 50mph?

It's really not that simple I'm afraid.  They can regen as slow as 30mph as long as you're in 3rd and don't stop for any traffic lights lol.  Long, fast journeys are best, but there isn't a set time or speed for it, too many variables as said above.  If you do mostly long journeys you should be fine.

I don't do long journeys through the week, I only live 3 miles from work but weekends I'm normally on the motorway from Mansfield to Sheffield, Coventry, Milton Keynes etc .

Hmm, I wouldn't run a DPF with such low weekday mileage tbh.  You might get away with it on the weekend drives but it will be a risk.
