Auto wipers & lights malfunction

I've owned a 59 plate Fiesta Titanium 1.6tdci for 8 years with no problems. 

Now getting an intermittent fault. On screen display says "Auto wipers/lights malfunction. Next service".

Wipers, electric windows, electric mirrors and cruise control all fail.

Other times everything works perfectly. 

Any clever ideas before I pay a garage to try to chase down an intermittent fault?
