passenger one yeah. i have 2 cables for programing would it be one of those ? ones elm i think the other is focum

I haven't done it myself but would think it could be done with the ELM cable and either FORScan or ELMConfig.  Hopefully someone else knows for sure.

cheers hopefully some one else can confirm for me

refit the old one.....  Double check the new one has every fuse and relay in the same location and all working.

buy a decent EML cable, download ELMconfig from here  http://civil.iffc.ru/ …. (use firefox Microsoft are incompetent and the link won't show up) much of the next processes will be covered in many cruise control retrofit posts)

plug in the EML cable and follow your nose/ tutorial, back up all THREE GEM config files and note your chassis number (save a copy to your laptop)

fit the new GEM (correct name for the fuse box / BCM) , input you chassis number and save to the GEM, open your original three config files (one by one) and write each to the GEM and save it.

if the orginal GEM is broken, you will need to get as build data (main dealer) or extract from someone else's exact same car

ive got a good elm cable. so is the fuse box where all the data is kept then ? thanks for the info

…. there are 3 files in the GEM (specific to your car) but lots of code resides in other modules

like the PCM has the engine map, the cruise control workings and the its part of the immobiliser

cars these days are full of computers and software.... my main car has 50 computers, my last one had 39.... each with specific coding, fun, bugs and designed in faults
