new ford focus titanium info?

Featured Replies

Hi All, new here and my first ford focus , its a 14 plate titanium x nav, 40k looks and feels very nice , just one thing , I have only had it a few days and read a few things about the transmission going a lot? mine is   the  1.6 tdci  is the problem with the  petrol or automatic? I am not great on cars , is this a sound motor? my dad loves fords. thanks glen

It's the powershift (automatic) that causes a lot of issues.

The manual gearbox is better...not totally without fault but you have to be unlucky to get faults with them.

The 1.6TDCi is a fairly good engine in that age Focus, only common issue seems to be fuel injectors.

I take it you're aware of the diesel particulate filter?  They are the other part that causes issues but that's down to driver error and short runs.

Hi Tom, thanks for the fast reply, feel better now, and yes a mate told me about that, but as I drive 30 mins to work he said it should be ok? and most of that is dual carriageway so 60-70mph

Yep, I'd agree with your mate there, a 30 minute dual carriageway commute is pretty much ideal conditions for a DPF.
