Slider pins position

Featured Replies

I changed the brake discs and pads recently and noticed that the slider pins are pretty stuck.

Bought new ones and they're different from one another. As you see in the pics.

Question is.....which one goes where? I understand that putting them wrong will result in uneven pad wear, vibration, etc.

Thanks

After some research i found that the pin with the bushing goes at the bottom of the caliper bracket, as it's in position.

Apparently pins that are bent or not lubricated can cause uneven brake pad wear (pads stay at an angle), brake disc warping and sticky pads. So make sure those are clean and properly lubricated when you do your next brake job!

The pins are often neglected on brake jobs. doesn't take much to clean and lubricate them.

Did you find out what the rubber bushes were actually for?

Different cars have the bushes in different locations, sometimes it's even different between front and rear on the same car so I just put them back wherever the old ones came out from.  Would like to know their purpose though, I can't believe they're just for noise reduction?
