Aftermarket led bulbs

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a 2009 mk2.5 focus.

Before 18 months one of the H7 headlight low beam bulb burned out for the first time. I decided to replace both the bulbs with the osram nightbreaker laser. Yesterday a osram burned out. The light from osram was better from the originals but it last only 18 months and they are not cheap.

So i want led bulbs to last longer and for more light.

Have anyone try to fit led bulbs into standard headlights?

Is the light better ?

Which led bulb you use?

At ebay i found this bulbs . The seller says that they are brighter from halogen bulbs, are the same size as halogen and they do not need ballast. I think is a good option. Have anyone try them?

Thanks

What kind of headlights do you have, reflector or projectors? If it's reflectors then it's a really bad idea causing really bad beam pattern and scattered light also illegal

Reflectors

Projector

Also get some proper LED bulbs from Autobeam or CEUK as the cheap ones are rubbish anyway

So i can not use led bulbs.

thank you for your answer though you disappointed me

Osram are known for not lasting as long as ‘standard’ filament bulbs, all bulbs that offer a better light tend to suffer with a shorter lifespan. I have used Osram and then switched to Phillips performance bulbs, they have been more reliable and after 2 years were still going strong when I sold the car. The light seemed a little better too. Halfords own +130% bulbs have good reviews and are normally BOGOF.

In my experience aftermarket LED bulbs are not all that good anyway, in the wet they tend to reflect off the rain and spray from other vehicles, the throw from the light itself is also not as far. This is the same for OEM setups when you compare them to HID in a lot of cases.

You can probably get a set of bulbs for around £30 which is less than £1.50 a month if they last 2 years, so not hugely expensive when you look at it that way. And the improvement outweighs the cost imo

Although you cannot have them at the moment you still have options to have them fitted, there is a place called headlightretrofits, they can turn your headlights into projector style and even set them up correctly with LED bulbs for a perfect beam pattern, it's expensive but they can do it.
