Focus mk2 Engine Mount

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have recently started hearing/feeling vibrations after sharp acceleration on my 2006 Focus. I have been advised that the vibrations are caused by engine leaning against the exhaust and that engine mount on the car needs replacing.

However, since there is more than one engine mount, how could I figure out which mount needs replacing?

The car is 2006 mk2 Focus 1.6

Many Thanks

Hi, Failed drivers side top engine mount is a common issue.  Mine went on my 2010 focus there was a heavy vibration throughout the rev range and scary noises.  I thought the engine was screwed.  Swapped the mount the car is now smooth and quiet again.  Defo worth 100 quid for the mount.  Go to ford for the mount as aftermarket ones aren't as good.

Thanks

I hope it isn't a headache to replace.

Unfortunately the "top" mount for most MK2 engines is now over £200 from Ford :wallbash:

Wow, it makes the amount they want for the MK2 diesels even harder to swallow!

Shoulda got a 1.6 diesel lol, it's only the 1.8TDCi version that's expensive...

How do they justify the price difference?  Seems crazy!

Tbf, I think it's probably a supply and demand thing.  The 1.6 petrol and 1.6 diesel mounts were both used in the mk3 Focus as well as the mk2 so plenty still being ordered and manufactured.  Whereas the 1.8TDCi engine was never fitted to the mk3 so that mount is likely to be much less in demand now.  Still seems like a mad difference in price though!

lol, I still reckon I'm about £2K better off than if I'd had a MK2 DV6 for 7 years 😂 When I replaced my top mount a couple of years ago I just fitted one that looked in decent condition from a scrappy, it might not be quite as good as a brand new one for damping vibrations but it's certainly a hell of a lot better than the original part it replaced!

(I reckon you might be right on the supply and demand reasoning...I'll give Ford the benefit of the doubt for once!)
