Email setup/Advice

I already have 1 email working through Microsoft Office outlook 2007 my old Blueyonder one and just set up another which is a Virginmedia.com and all work fine but just 2 things.

1...When i delete a e-mail that i have read i just get a line through it and it don't go,is there setting somewhere im missing to delete so its not there like Blueyonder one.

2...Is there a way to have the 2 inboxes under each other as i miss the new one not being Default its low down so have to scroll down and press the + to drop down on the inbox.

Cheers.

I didn’t realise outlook 2007 was still supported lol.

You are seeing the strikethrough because of your settings. It’s to do with the ‘purge’ setting on your IMAP account. On the folder for that account click on the ‘edit’ menu and select ‘purge options’ it may be in a sub heading for purge deleted emails. Then tell it you want to automatically purge the emails when you switch folders and that should be it.

The headings are possibly a bit more tricky. You can try to minimise the folders under you main email account to bring the other one up or you can try dragging the other email inbox up the list, I doubt the latter will work though.

I did think it was something to do with the 'purge' but now i know i can look into that somewhere in setting.

Yes i have had 2007 office outlook complete set up for years and still updated through windows update and i like the layout of it.

Going back i while i did make my main emal inbox there and then like a sub inbox under it like a + then press it and it was there, well i didn't even have to press it i just opened putlook and the 2 email inboxes were there but i cant remember,if i cant solve this i was looking as the forward way to forward the new email addy to the same indox so all in 1 inbox.

Cheers for you help as its hard to find help on stuff like this these days.

I solved it in a way,i went onto My Virgin Media on my new email and told it to forward it to my old email address so i get them all in same inbox,it still stops in the other inbox which in one way is good but at least i wont miss any.

You were right with the purge setting as it wasn't ticked and i wasn't moving folder to folder so say i press delete i get a line then i open another folder and go back to my inbox its gone.

Thanks a lot.

How many email address do a lot of people have,i only have 3 what i use and the 3rd one was only set up a few days ago.

My Blueyonder one is around 15 years old and a few places wont accept it so i have a new Virgin media one and my main one now will be Gmail being web based.

If i leave Virgin my email goes within 90 days so thinking ahead and mainly on Gmail i will swop to and a few less important to the new Virgin one.

Also gone to ThunderBird from 2007 outlook as no more updates on outlook from 2017 so security side etc,i used ThunderBird before and load of tools.

I have a primary private email address, a secondary address I use for online subscriptions etc (for filtering spam and suchlike), a gmail account for my phone profile and one work email address.
My work address and others that get let through as not spam all get forwarded to my primary account.

The virgin forum advised me to change or get a web based one up and running just in case i leave virgin but i have already had one for years when i set up you tube and google.

My new virgin one will be for less important stuff and then cancel the Blueyonder one eventually,i like the ThunderBird set up a lot which i did use before as loads of tools on there to change things and also get all my emails in one place on all different accounts, got spam filters set up through it and also protected through Kaspersky total which is great.
