Mk3 Focus Interior Light Issue

Featured Replies

Hi again y'all ...

Having collected my car recently from service at my local main dealer I noticed on arrival home that the interior light wasn't coming on with the doors open (sticky fingered mechanics maybe) though I can still switch it on/off . I took no more heed of it as I thought it to be something I could sort out myself without the need to go back to the garage . However I'm no wiser or no closer to sorting it myself having tried the illuminated 'OFF' switch and the on/off switch . The car also has door lights which have never worked since I bought her in May this year , used from a non Ford dealer . Is it something so blindingly obvious that I've missed ?

If it's any help the interior light just has 2 switches/buttons , the 'On/Off' and the illuminated Off . It's also a late 2014 reg Focus Zetec Estate .
(I must update my profile pic 😉 )

I'll catch up later with any ideas , solutions you may have .

I think there is a press and hold which may be of use - but not having manual in front of me i cant check - im sure someone will be along who knows for sure.

When you say door lights - do you mean puddle lights?

i guess you have checked the bulb to make sure it`s not blown

Cheers to all two of ye , I've 'seen the light' !  :yahoo:
Found the default emojis too !

what was wrong with it then ?

Switches in wrong positions , dunno how/why I couldn't get them to work back then as there aren't too many options/combinations .

When I took the time to look properly at the 'puddle lights' I found out they're just blardy reflectors ! :wallbash:

If they had been lights they wouldn't have been "puddle lights" as these are the white lights in the underside of the door mirrors, pointing down to the ground. Unless I've misunderstood the ones you're describing sound like the red lights in the rear edges of the doors that show other drivers that the door is open.

Gotcha mjt , I'll get the hang of this vocabulary yet .  I'm more accustomed to the No frills LX trim .

Yes it's the red ones on the front door edges . It'd be nice to have those as lights instead of reflectors . Is there an upgrade available and much work involved ?

Yes it is possible to illuminate the red reflectors , Pretty sure some one on here has done it and wrote it up. Couldn`t find the link but I have just googled it and found on another Ford site something similar that may help

Cheers bigtime Swiftfocus69 for both links , I'll keep them in a safe place .

A small consolation also that it's not just me was fooled by appearances !

Used to have an Escort where they lite up, shame Ford never made it standard. Nice feature to have.

Happy to help when I can , may need the favour back sometime .
