Water Leak under the boot

Featured Replies

Hi. Hope someone can help. I have just started noticing a leak under the boot on the drivers side of my Mk 3 focus roughly in line with the corner of the boot hatch. The leak is definately water - I put my hand up into the space and caught one of the drips. Seems to be leaking slowly all day when parked on a flat surface - there is a damp patch on tarmac when I leave work. Strangely though it doesn't leak overnight when I'm parked a drive with an incline from left to right. Seems to leak water even when there is no rain.

Checked the inside of the boot and car interior as I read about a leak problem into the car but everything is dry there as far as I can see.

I'm completely puzzled. Anyone got any suggestions before I end up at the dealers?

I'm  guessing here , wildly perhaps but it may be a screen washer tube come adrift . I've got a Mk 3 estate and haven't experienced the leak you have .

Thanks for the suggestion. The water is clear so I don’t think it is screen wash but I’ll have a look and see.

Sounds like the usual mk3 bumper vent leak.  There's a huge thread on it at the top of the Focus page.

Or it could be the tail light, had the same problem on mine but after Tom's top tip of putting vaseline around the bolts holding it in no more leaks.
