Indicator 'relay' click (or is it?)

Featured Replies

A possible candidate for 'Most Pointless Post of the Year' Award 2018 but here goes anyway...

I noticed the other day that the relay click you hear when indicating in a Mk 7.5 isn't really the noise from a relay but rather a synthesised sound from a speaker. I found this out as I had something on the passenger seat which triggered the 'not wearing a seatbelt' warning chime and evidently only one sound can be emitted at a time and so whilst the indicators continued flashing the clicking noise completely ceased. I suppose the clicking sound is what we are all used to, and no doubt if it wasn't present we'd be constantly thinking the indicators aren't working.

Call me naive but hasn't this been the case in most cars for quite a long time now? 😂

If anyone's naive it's me, thanks to previous cars I've owned always being many years old!

Yep...you've got to go back to the late 90s to get actual relay clicks on indicators!
