Hi, I'm new here so please be gentle!

I've just bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost.

I really like the car but what let's it down at the moment is the sound system.  I want to upgrade the speakers but I'm unsure what to go for.

Does anyone have any recommendations on speakers based on their own experiences of them?

In the future I will no doubt pop an aftermarket head unit in (unless that's not advisable for whatever reason) but I think that time is a long way off yet.

In the mean time are there any other upgrades I should consider other than just the speakers? Is it possible to add a separate amp using the ford HU?

The only trouble with an aftermarket head unit is they look really ugly due to the shape of the dash and the fascia plate you therefore have to buy.

I wouldn't say the existing speakers are bad. I'd say they're a lot better than what you would otherwise get a car in the same price range. Perhaps you just need to sort out the EQ on them to make them suit your type of music etc.

I was thinking that about the aftermarket HU as I would have been putting a double din unit in and thought it might mess with the curved lines of the dash a bit.

I am using my phone to play audio through Bluetooth so will have a fiddle with the equaliser on the stereo and the app I'm using.

to be fair there are several different facias for the mk7/7.5 fiesta some look better than others I have installed an aftermarket head unit and don't regret it

I've got two sets of them fitted in my focus along with two amplifier's and a 10" sealed sub for the resonating bass 

2 different facia plates the one taken at night is the one that is fitted now. should give some indication to as to what it will look like

Looķs great in my opinion 

I've found upgrading the headunit to be the best thing before upgrading the speakers or getting a base box. My cousin upgraded his stereo to a JVC one in his Corsa and that improved the sound quality and that's with the standard speakers. You could also adjust the base but too much base would just overpower the sound.

the bottom one is with the screen at -10 angle which is why it looks like it isn't fitting properly but because of poor sunlight readability issues, I changed it to the one in the bottom picture. originally the top picture was originally dark grey / light grey which looked horrible so I applied 4 coats of gloss black spray paint to the bottom piece and matte black on the top piece. both tins cost £1 each from Poundland and help complete the OEM look. I would recommend the facia in the top picture for units without a color touch screen and the other facia for units with a color touchscreen.
