Trying to find out what a hose is called !!

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've got a smokey 1.8 TDCI. When I got it serviced a couple of weeks ago the garage told me which hose had a tear in that was causing it. They said it's an Air Intake pipe, I could get it on eBay and get it fitted.

It's this one, the tubby black hose right in the middle of the picture:

So, they've told me it's an Air Intake Pipe 'common elbow' into the EGR valve. Dunno if I'm missing something but searching for that on eBay none of the ones I can find look anything like that, and they all seem to be for 1.6 variants.

A turbo hose looks more likely to me, such as in this vid right here:

I've tried to find it on an engine diagram but none of the ones I've seen give a part name. Anyone got any ideas what I'm looking for and where to get one? Any help would be much appreciated.

Ta!

I'm not 100% sure as I own a 1.6tdci  but I think it may be called a Turbo boost hose or Intercooler EGR Boost hose.

Is this it?  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turbo-Intercooler-EGR-Boost-Hose-Pipe-For-FORD-FOCUS-MK2-C-MAX-1-8-4M516K863BE/183332908733?hash=item2aaf7e2ebd:g:ti0AAOSwLYRbT--J

That's great, thanks a lot guys.

This company sell a silicone version for £17.50, with a warranty, company is based in Telford. Wondering if that may be worth the extra couple of quid.

Silicone is really resilient and highly unlike to fail when used for this purpose, unlike the original plastic/rubber hybrid hose.  I replaced mine about 4 years ago with an ebay special (they're about £12 now) and it's still going strong so I honestly wouldn't worry about paying extra for warranties.
