Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I want to upgrade my stereo to one such as this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-MONDEO-SONY-CD-MP3-PLAYER-STEREO-FOCUS-MONDEO-NO-CODE/253939486223?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160323102634%26meid%3D301dfa2fec3347cbbf6ac43138255f85%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D192490277990%26itm%3D253939486223&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1

I know I need to purchase the rounded fascia panel in addition to the radio. Would someone be able to tell me the procedure for how to install the radio?

Straight swap but make sure the stereo your purchasing is really from a focus and not from a Mondeo

Because there wired differently and won't fully work correctly if from a Mondeo although the hardware is identical the software is different.

If i was you though I'd consider going aftermarket as the advantages are way better for Bluetooth and reverse camera,

I've guides here if interested Google "full list of lennys guides"

lenny do u mean if you want BT phone and music to work?  the radio and cd bits are all normal I believe?

As Lenny stated, Mondeo radioscan be a pain as they aren't100% compatible.

Obvious first step is to get the code as the one you've linked to comes without.

Secondly as you say, you need an oval fascia.

Thirdly you need the correct mount adaptors (make sure you order a pair)-

Yes the Bluetooth module and Mic. Are seperate ant need to be synced

But also clipping sounds from the Mondeo headunit in the focus, I've had a Sony 6 CD unit from a Mondeo in my focus before and could hear clipping and crackling through the speakers on occasion.

I later went all out on an aftermarket JL Audio system, which has now left me a slightly deaf to the high tones in my right ear #TurnDownForWhat

Ah, mk2 square vs mk2.5 oval.

I think I have a Mondeo Sony 6 disc DAB unit in my focus... all the radio and cd features work 100%

but I have the other small square connector on the back (which I think is the BT bits on a Mondeo ?)  I'm missing the connector on the car loom for the std BT module and gave up

Thanks Lenny, I will try and ensure I get a Focus one if I do go down this route. How would I know for definite that its not a Mondeo one. I'm looking at going this route as I only really want radio, CD and BT and I prefer the OEM look of it.

The serial number of the Sony headunit will be different, I can't remember correctly but there's loads of forum threads on Google about the serial number of the Sony headunit being a certain format means it's from a Mondeo or focus, I didn't get in to thd dynamics of it myself; personally I went all out on an aftermarket system
