Whilst trying to install a USB socket in the section beneath the heater controls in my 2008 1.6 Zetec TDCI I found this wiring socket behind a blank faceplate, does anyone know what it's meant to connect to ?

    Hi David, 

    There's connectors in the back of those panels for an ESP switch and heated windscreen if it's not already fitted,

    That one looks to be for the ESP switch as it's one feed in and one feed out.

    I've spliced in to mine before to get a power feed for dash light illumination to illuminate some gauges I fitted in a ST pod see guide here:
