Fiesta MK7 eco boost sounds like a diesel on start up.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m still trying to get to the bottom of the issues with my car (fiesta 63 plate ecoboost). I noticed this morning is sounded like a diesel on start up, I thought it was the exhaust but after a few mins it went away and sounded smooth and quiet. Anyone come across this before?

Hi,

That's pretty common for the Ecoboost engines. They use Piezo Injectors which can rattle and sound a bit 'diesily' on start-up. Mine also makes quite a bit sound when the turbo kicks in when it's cold. You'll get used to it, nothing strange!

Yes, mine is also very diesel-like on start up, particularly from cold. It only goes on for 30 secs or so, though, certainly not for a few minutes.
