Noisy Drive / Aux Belt - Focus Mk3 2.0 TDCi

Featured Replies

Hi

Following on from the other thread of how to remove the aux belt and alternator, I have today succesfully changed the alternator on my 2011 Focus mk3 2.0 TDCi.

This was in attempt to cure a whining drive / aux belt.  Unfortunately the alternator change has not cured the problem.  The idler pulley appeared to be in good order when I span it and felt it.

There is no difference in the whine based on belt load.  The only change is that it is louder with the higher rpms and changes pitch as well.

Is it known for timing belt problems to occur to the PSA 2.0 litre?

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Hi

I have found this video which has the same whine as my car although it's probably louder in the video than it is on my car.

The video has it as the alternator but I have already changed this.

Help?

Hi

Should have read the comments on that video before posting it.

They suggest it is the tensioner rather than alternator.  What is the consensus?

Thanks
