Removing 2015 focus steering wheel

Im sorry if this has been covered before but I have searched around for this and cannot find anything related to it.

 

I have a 65 plate focus with the 3 spoke steering wheel, the current one has de laminated due to the previous owner either having sweaty hands, used lots of hand cream or a combination of both!

 

I have just managed to pick up a new one and will be replacing it shortly when I have an idea of changing it, normally its a couple of holes in the back of the wheel where you press a small screwdriver through to release the airbag, is it the same or as some cars I have seen have a torx behind them.

 

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    As someone with sweaty hands that uses a lot of hand cream I've not had any issues with a steering wheel delaminating so far lol. 

    The airbag on these still uses a spring that needs a flat blade screwdriver to release, no Torx. :smile:

    Thank you so much,  yeah generally Ive never had a problem too but I use a dedicated leather cleaner and sealant to keep the leather in good condition

    How many miles has that done?  I've had 15 year old wheels in better condition than that! 😮 

    Despite that, someone will buy it because of the cruise buttons I reckon...stick it on ebay...

    33000 miles, the amount of wear was shocking, I was thinking of selling it but will see

    paerhaps previous driver had very rough/coarse hands which were like sand paper on the steering wheel, and he should have used handcream.
