Featured Replies

Hi all got a slight leak from my thermostat housing that bolts to the engine with 2 bolts (not the thermostat) I believe you can by a new gasket funny shaped thing is it best to just change the complete housing found some with thermostat all ready built in also how much antifreeze will come out if I undew the housing to.the engine as I only changed the thermostat last month with new antifreeze lol cheers

And upon removing the housing how much antifreeze would I loose

As your car is 10 years old, if the coolant in your car has not already been replaced, you might as well drain the whole lot out, change the thermostat and refill with new coolant to the  recomended mix.

Hi I changed the coolant and thermostat in February you see hopefully just a bit of coolant will come out once the housing is removed ? Not the whole lot I hope

Any idea

It'll only drain down to the level of the thermostat, so won't lose much, I'd guess less than a litre tbh but not done it on this engine myself.
