Brake light

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a 2002 Fiesta, when i am driving the brake light sometimes comes on then off, i have checked the fluid level and i dont think it has brake pad sensors. Could it be a faulty handbrake switch?

Thanks for any help.

Bob

When you say brake light, do you mean the brake warning light in the instrument cluster?

Brake lights come on when a switch is closed behind the pedal. Chances are it just needs adjusting slightly so it's not being pressed in when the pedal isn't being touched.

If you are talking about the brake warning light on the instrument panel on the dashboard, my 04 fiesta had the same issue. Funny enough it was the sensor in the brake fluid reservoir that failed. It had was consistently on and when I tested it by earthing it, it went off and worked normally turning on when applying the handbrake, and off when releasing the handbrake
