Focus diesel engine mounts?

Featured Replies

My 1.8tdci has a vibration starting around 1500rpm up to around 2500 that I'm suspecting is an engine mount problem. I'm wondering if there is a way to confirm the front mount (under the coolant tank) has failed. Apparently it is filled with hydraulic fluid and it leaks leaving the mount too soft, but if I inspected the mount would I see metal to metal contact anywhere. I also suspect the lower 'dog bone' mount is joining in the noise a little.

I have just done this to my grandsons car if you take the weight off it it will be very soft mine hand stains on the outside of it

I got one of e bay not to bad on price about £ 20

That mount won't fit the 1.8 TDCi, I've got the same engine and replaced the "top" engine mount on mine a couple of years ago with a used one of ebay (Ford now want £200 for a brand new genuine Ford part). :taz:

Incidentally, mine hadn't yet leaked but had a massive bulge poking out of the top of the rubber "bladder" and I also had the vibration issues within the range mentioned.
