Focus 2011 Keyless replacement

Featured Replies

I lost one of my keys when I was moving house and have since had the one key, but I'm a bit paranoid about  losing the remaining said key. What are the options for getting a replacement key?

Is it possible to buy a blank from eBay and have it assigned to the car using forscan or an internal programming system mode?

Blank Key:

I have found a ford key code card in my car which I assume is the number that needs to be programmed to the key if that's something that helps.

Or is the only option a matter of spending £200 or whatever it is at ford?

I think that number for the key is the cut of the key when you need a new blade new keys are not cheap sorry

Ford key code card is for the locking wheel nut if it looks like this, it's nothing to do with the keyfobs.

Proximity fobs are expensive, the one you linked is cheap rubbish and the key cutters will probably refuse to cut the blade as the harder metal can damage their equipment.  If you get a decent quality replacement fob, there are suggestions online of easy ways to program it as long as you still have the original...I haven't tried it on a mk3 though so can't confirm I'm afraid.

well I never new that learn something everyday😊

Not too worried about getting the blade cut, just need to to program the keyless bit. If it's ford only then so be it. Just wanted to know if I could get away with a reprogrammed copy to use, keeping my original at home

You'll need the key blade to get in if the car battery dies so it's worth having done.

I doubt the quality of the electronics is any good on a cheap ebay fob either tbh, but yeah as long as you get a decent quality replacement programmed in it should function exactly the same as the original.

Slight alternative, if purchasing a used key from ebay (avoids it being inferior hardware), could that be re-programmed with use of my original key DIY style?

I found this guide:

https://northcoastkeyless.com/2011-ford-focus-keyless-entry-remote-programming-instructions/

Wasn't sure if any had success in this manner, or know of another method that they have used. If not I will have to ultimately sort it out with ford...£££

One of my car key has been through the washing machine and although it works for a couple of days with a new battery it dies very quickly. i would also be very interested in how to obtain another  keyless key.
