Radio Turnoff Delay Once Key Out Of Ignition??

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm right in the middle of the coldest winter on record, and of course I have to park outside so I haven't been able to start my 2011 Fiesta all day (Love those -50 Fahrenheit temperatures am I right?) - Anyway, that's not the main issue since I was expecting that to happen. What my issue is that after I tried to get my car started, failed, turned it back off & took the key out of the ignition, THE RADIO STARTED PLAYING. The music lasted about 10 seconds before turning completely off again.

My biggest question is has anyone else experienced anything similar? Is it a problem with the radio wiring, like a fuse short? Or should I just chalk it up to a cold day and my battery had no clue what to do with itself?

Thanks in advance!

if you had the radio on when the ignition was on then the radio will turn on and stay on for 10s after turning the ignition off unless you open a door, then it should turn off immediately, the other reason is, if the car has been jump started or the battery is on the way out the electric systems on all cars tend to play up, for example on my dads mazda, the dials tend to cyle from zero to max and then back again, on my mums renault master van, the speedo randomly stops working, and on her micra the airbag light comes on. this is all perfectly normal because the ECU gets annoyed if it is not seeing correct/ consistent/ both voltages.
