MPG

I have two Ford Focus Estates. Both have a 1.5ltr TDCI engine. Ones 2016 and ones 2017. Ones manual (2016) and ones a powershift (2017) The only issue I have is the Manual is developing 55.6mpg and my Powershift is doing 44.5. I know Autos are more thirsty but surely not that thirsty to create that much of a difference. Can anyone advise me to why the dramatic differences?

Thanks in advance

Chris

You need to monitor it over a longer period to get a more accurate result as journey even on the same road can vary a lot i can drive the 25 miles to Perth and one day get 56mpg then another day im at 44mpg, thats the same car with the same driver.

I’ll monitor it and see how it goes 👌🏻

Been buying cars for a number of years. In the last 5/6 years most of the brands have moved forward and their auto figures are better that their manual figs. When I came looking to buy a new fiesta, which will be with me within the next month, I was shocked that Ford seemed to be behind the times with their auto boxes still being worse across the various performance figures than their manual gearboxes. Not sure why, but it is strange.

My sisters Meriva gets 26 to the gallon (petrol Auto), my Focus gets 36-38 depending upon how heavy footed I am.

10mpg probably isn't all that concerning.
