Any Ideas??

Featured Replies

hi guys am having a few problems with my car.

firstly it only seems to start on one cylinder and takes absolutely ages until it finally fires on all four, this is only when it is cold?

it then starts overheating??

and the last problem is the car is shaking like mad i recently had it balanced and changed the ball joint, i think perhaps the pinch bolt may av been vibrating that bad it has worn down the hole it sits in, does anyone have any ideas how i could fix this without buying a new front knuckle?

Cheers any help will be much appreciated.

new front knuckle basically firing on 1 cylinder and overheating i would say head gasket issue sounds like the cylinders are letting either coolantt or oil in so ide have it tested a sniffer test at a garage will show if it is ide say 90percent thats what it is loss of coolant or oil gunge in the oil or under the oil cap sweet smelling exhaust fumes and not firing on all the cylinders is a good sign alsio majke suyre you have no water in the plug holes could be the washer jets leaking

cheers for that i shall get a compression test, i havent seen any of the gunge that the head gasket usually develops. it takes ages to start then just on one cylinder and then finally it goes onto the 2nd and so on till it starts.

I will have to keep an eye out for a knuckle on ebay as ford want over 300quid for one :(

cheers for the reply

it sounds like a head issue it could be coincidence that the engines over heating and theres afiring issue normally both suggest looking at the head gasket but could be 2 seperate issues so a pressure test first if that checks out fine then coil pack and leads and have the thermostat and water pump checked
