Fault mis-diagnosis

Featured Replies

My daughters Mondeo 2.0 tdci, went into limp mode, she had already had the dpf changed some months ago at a cost of some £800, so

went back to the people who had replaced it, it was discovered that the dpf was full of oil, the garage changed the throttle body stating it was jammed solid

another £798, I have the same car so put the throttle body on my car, no ill effects. I thought that possibly the turbo oil seals had gone hence the dpf filling

up with oil. Garage said to my daughter bring it back in 2 weeks and they would check it, My thoughts were in another 2 weeks the dpf would of filled up again

Simple question does my daughter have any right of redress to the garage?? his parting comments were "Your car your problem" which I thought quite shocking really

Take it to another garage and get them to look at it.  If the garage knew what they were doing they would investigate it more to work out the cause of the issue and not just keep sorting the after affects

£800 for a throttle body? They're like £30 on ebay an take half an hour to fit...

If you have a proper receipt then you should have a case, but it would be hard to prove and possibly not worth your time.

Thanks for replies, I think the garage should of looked at why the dpf was filling up with oil, to me I would of thought

they would of sussed it was the turbos oil seals that have failed. His comment the air intake valve had jammed spoke volumes

especially when we all know it only shuts for a few seconds to stop air going in. He changed the turbo regulator £160, and throttle regulator

I have now taken my daughters car to someone who knows what they are doing, he will rebuild the turbo and report back to me.
