Haydn24
So I've recently got a 17 plate Fiesta, so has another year left on the warranty. What's the situation with getting it serviced? Does it have to be with a Ford dealer to maintain the warranty? Was having a look at how much it would cost at the dealer nearest to me and it's £215! Now I used to change the oil and filters on my previous car, however it looks more difficult on the Fiesta, especially with the filter location. I could probably take it to a local independent garage and get then to change the oil and filters for much less Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Luke4efc
It's no different to any other common engine? Certainly easy enough to do at home with a Jack and Jack stands. Less than £30 for oil and filter. The filter would have to be located within the bell housing for me to pay over £200!
TomsFocus
You need to have the car serviced by a competent garage using genuine parts to keep the warranty. But it doesn't have to be a Ford dealer garage. £200 is around the going rate for a minor service at the main dealer but it is a bit more than just oil & filter tbf. They also carry out module updates that a non-dealer garage won't be able to. Also bear in mind that they give you 'free' roadside assistance for 12 months within that price. Having said that, you can go to F1 Autocentres and have a short service for around £60, then buy roadside assistance from one of the smaller companies for under £100 altogether... Parts can be any brand as long as they are suitable / fit for purpose. It would be illegal under anti competition laws for car manufacturers to insist you have to use their own branded parts.

Yep, sorry you're right. I was confusing the dealer servicing price match which did have to use genuine parts... It wasn't even a Ford thing though, was a VW one. I should really stick to one brand at a time... It's worth noting though, the parts and especially oil do have to be to OE spec. If a local garage just chucks in the cheapest 10w40 they have on tap I'm pretty sure Ford would refuse to repair any related failures (oil pump, wet belt etc) under warranty.
pragmatix
Just to note, that the ford breakdown cover is full relay which is not cheap, so the service cost is not that bad in reality.

Yes, if you look at (for example) AA prices for cover you don't need to tick many boxes before you are up to the price of a service. And if you let it auto-renew for a few years.........£££££!😀
Haydn24
Tbh I only took out separate breakdown cover in January, but suppose I could consider it next yearSent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
