Rear Quarter Window seals

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

New to the forum but used a lot of your info in the past to fix things up on my 2013 Mk3 Focus.

The seals on both rear quarter windows has worn and ripped. This is causing a bit of water coming in and collecting in the side cup holders. Do you know if there is a way to just replace the seals or is it a case of getting a new window put in on with the seal already attached. I have seen it looks like a bit of a ball ache to try and remove the window so would I be best getting a garde to sort if for me?

Thanks in advance.

Alex

Not seen that one before, usually rear quarter glass is secured using a specialist adhesive which isn't really designed to allow the glass unit to be removed.  If you can't find a way of repairing the seal I'd personally be leaning towards getting it replaced professionally otherwise you could end up with an even bigger leak.

can it be done with a load of bathroom sealant?

Hello did you manage to resolve this issue - we’ve got the same problem with ours

Can't help feeling if that was my car, I'd be heading to AutoGlass to fix. Even main dealers farm that kind of stuff out to glass professionals... and welcome to the forum.

Ours is exactly the same on a c-max as the window isn't damaged auto glass quoted me £340 to repair. Wtf.

Has anyone found a fix for this? Even if just temporary? I’ve gorilla taped it for aslong as I can.
auto glass have quoted me over £1k to get both my rear quarters done and I’m slightly reluctant to pay it.

Have you asked your local Ford dealership for a price ?

They’ve advised that it’s not something they do… unless it’s just my local branch not wanting to do it possibly.

I don't think I would be spending £1000 on a 9 year old car just to make the window trims 'look good'.

Are they leaking ?

The use of the black Gorilla Tape is probably one of the better fixes available. Neatly applied and trimmed to fit it should make a good repair.

Exactly my point, I’ve just had the clutch done too!

Yes, when we get bad rain, it runs into the back cups next to the back seats.

I have re- gorilla taped it this evening and hope that it will hold but just gets messy if the water gets under it

its hanging on for dear life right at the top of the seal 😂😂

My 2014 ford focus is like this only completely torn off and have been getting water onto my back seat and down into my boot. All on the right hand side. My mechanic said to get the window replaced, is there any cheap options out there?
