MK7 auxiliary input over-amplification issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got a bit of a difficult one here.. So I've recently decided to try to upgrade my entertainment system in my 2012 Zetec to include OEM Bluetooth. I bought the full kit, which comes with aux/USB as part of the Bluetooth loom. The loom connects the aux/USB to the Bluetooth module and to the centre console as well as the roof (mic). My original system had aux/USB which connected directly to the centre console (and the back of the stereo for USB). Now here's the problem: my original aux input was great. Sound was clear and all (apart from known earthing-related noises), but the new aux (that connects to the BT module) has a very, very bad sound quality. I also noticed that it is considerably louder, which leads me to think the signal is being over-amplified. I've attached two 20-sec videos to show the difference. The music was played from the same device over the same cable, just different aux inputs. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MB34dtfUA96NVzH5w7Hgc9aJpgK0UeJH

Anyone know why this is happening, and how I could fix it?

Thanks

I assume that you’ve checked and cleaned all the connections.

Try this: set your volume while on RADIO to a level you are comfortable with. Switch to AUX then adjust the volume on your device (phone, iPod, etc) to the same level. Is it still broken and distorted? If so then it’s likely your Sync module or the cables have a problem; either poorly connected or broken somewhere.
