Metal Edition Performance Upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know due to the fact its a 1.6 there isnt much a remap will do to it but can i even fit a Mk7 Fiesta 1.6 Ti-VCT Induction Kit? ive tried looking online for performance things and because its a metal im finding it hard to find the right stuff! if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks

The fact it's the metal trim has nothing to do with being limited in engine mods. More the fact you have a N/A engine meaning an induction kit wont get you a noticeable increase in power. All it is for the 1.6 is a piece of silicone pipe and a less restrictive air filter (people call them performance filters). Just means you have the potential to introduce more dirt into the combustion chamber.

Mountune used to do a warranty compliant package which took the  Zetec S from 120ps or so to 140ps, though I seem to remember the exhaust being a bit on the loud side. The Metal was rated at 134ps as standard and happy to be corrected but I think it used the Mountune bits with a quieter exhaust. Whatever, this dropped the 0-60 by over a second compared to the Zetec S.

I do remember the Metal as being a very nice package, and not a lot of them about, so I'd be inclined to keep it in good standard trim and put my cash towards saving for an ST if eventually wanting something with more power.
