NextBase dashcam triggers every 20 mins

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a NextBase 512GW camera specifically as it has an 'auto off' function (the Fiesta 12v socket is permanently live).  However, after a few days I checked the recordings and found the camera was triggering automatically approximately every 20 mins.  I contacted NextBase who suggested trying a different location on the windscreen and they confirmed that the sensor is extremely sensitive (so it will trigger the camera if there is the slightest movement eg. in a car park etc.) and there is no way of altering the sensitivity of the 'auto trigger' sensor (I know you can alter the 'g' sensor for when the camera is operating).  The only other idea was to turn off the sensor, which would leave the camera continuously running, but then I would have to remember to unplug / plugin the camera each time (or risk the battery going flat after several days).  I have tried various locations, including mounting the camera on a 'SatNav mat' on the dash, without any success.  As the camera triggers consistently every 20mins, I believe this may be something to do with the Fiesta 12v socket, rather than the dashcam.  Does anyone else have this problem and /or know a cure?

I think you need the hard wire kit so you can wire it in to a live and run fuse don't ask me which fuse as its a fiesta and turn off

the sensor .This is how I did it and it works fine

I bought a Nextbase hard wire kit for mine (as Dez suggested above) and have it wired to a switched live fuse location. I don't want it coming on when the car is parked up draining my battery although some people like the extra security of having the motion detector whilst the car is parked up.

Think you might get more info on the dashcam here >>> https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/512gw.266/
