Car wash 🤔

Featured Replies

Anyone who owns an 09 plate fiesta zetec s, do you use automatic car wash? I've recently just bought said car, I'm a bit apprehensive about taking mine in one due to the spoiler. Just wanted to see how other members have got on. Worried it could take the spoiler right off. 🤔🤔🤔 help much appreciated

You're better off going to a decent hand car wash rather than an automatic to be honest so you don't get thousands of tiny scratches off the car wash rotary brushes.

Just be wary though because some of the hand wash places are bad too for marking your paintwork, especially the ones that use the rubber blade to dry the car off.

Even the jet wash stations that you use yourself have their problems, quite often you will see the brush on the floor (collecting stones) and then someone else will come along later and use it to clean their paintwork scratching it in the process.

Unless you live in an apartment/flat where access to water is an issue you're better off just hand washing it yourself.

There are many other reasons not to use an automatic car wash other than the spoiler. Anybody who cares at all about their paintwork would steer clear from auto car washes.

Agree with the others - if you care about your paintwork wash it yourself.

As for the spoiler, I'm sure it would be fine in an automatic car wash if you did decide to use one.

The spoiler should be bonded on just fine and you’d be unlucky for it to come, these places are insured for things like that though.

What they are not insured for is the hundreds of swirls and scratches they will leave on your paintwork. As others have said, I would also steer clear of them if you are bothered about the paintwork. Same as a hand wash station on the street corner, unless they use a 2 bucket technique etc.

If you have the time, space and water source available to you I’d do it yourself. It’s a good little hobby and you get a real sense of achievement when you finish.

I'd wash the car myself. With my previous car I used to take it to a hand car wash once a month. After 2 years and selling it it was covered in heavy swirl marks. One of the guys accidentally broke the rear wiper arm.

Now I wash my car myself. Its more satisfying plus you'd take more care not to inflict scratches.

Thank you all. I had thought about the swirls and scratches/damaging the paintwork.

But was more concerned about the spoiler 😐

Think I'll take it to a hand car wash. See how I get on 🙂😐

Again, thank you for your input, much appreciated 🙂👍👍
