K+N Filter

Does anyone know the correct part number for a K+N replacement filter to fit a 2018 1.0 ecoboost?

Some sites say its a 33-2955 but the K+N site says 33-3117? they both look the same and the 33-2955 is listed to fit upto 2017

Thanks

Hi for your fiesta 2018 it’s definitely the 33-3117. I’m currently looking at getting a K&N for my 2016 fiesta and I’ve been told I need the 33-2955, as the 33-3117 will not fit, hope this helps - Matt.

So what was your conclusion?

I've run previous cars with Pipercross filters which didn't make any difference but years ago with a K+N i could hear the turbo spooling more than with the standard filter. I wouldn't fit an induction kit due to heat soak and too much noise

.Had mine installed only for a trip i did from London to Sheffield and back roughly 300 miles on the M1. Everytime i planted the foot it seemed breathless and stuttery. In truth is it because we expect more? The panel filter in my opinion gives you the benefit of not having to change the filter every service, for performance and sound then a full on induction kit with a cone filter works for me everytime.

I was hoping a K+N would give a little more response seeing how Mountune installed it as part of their package upgrades? might just get a cheaper foam Pipercross again?

I have a k&n filter in my mk7.5 and at first swapped back to the stock filter after a month, then back to panel filter.

Personally I don't think it makes a difference whatsoever. Engine noise etc sounds the same, certainly doesn't seem to offer any power gain... mpg increase, I have never bothered with monitoring.

Due to his I have never bothered putting one in our mk8. Certainly not worth the cost as they bring nothing to the table in my experience.

I was thinking the same as you......if it's good enough for mountune but i think its a bit more than that with mountune, the filter is just part of an improved package. at the moment i am looking at whether to try to improve the standard airbox but there doesnt seem much you can do without butchering it totally. People say the ST200 box is a good improvement but they are silly money, there are a few mountune kits out there secondhand anything between 80 and £200 i have seen on the facebook marketplace.

I used to fit both Pipercross & K&N years ago, mainly because they lasted longer and I was doing a big mileage back then, but like Martin can't say I ever noticed any benefit to performance or mpg.

The Fiesta in no way feels "strangled" to me and I doubt that a stock 1.0 ecoboost would benefit from a change of filter etc.  Might be a different story with a seriously  remapped/modified car, however.

On a standard car the benefits are that you can forget about it until re-oil time. On a modified car its the same but when coulped with a better airbox and cold feed pipework etc then the gains in noise and power can be impressive. guess it comes down to what floats your boat. On my standard ecoboost it was rubbish the stock filter was noticeably better, Now im running a bluefin and a few other bits it would be interesting to see if a k&n would be any better. Seems in my case that the k&n  just didnt suit my ecoboost in standard form thats all.
