Ford Fusion 1.4 petrol wont stay running

Featured Replies

Hi.

New here figured id join as there doesnt seem to be much info on the Ford Fusion anywhere.

My girlfriend has a 1.4 Fusion petrol 2006 5 door.

Recently developed a problem in which on some days (seems to mostly be on colder days) it will start but wont stay running unless giving it some gas. Even when driving off and stopping at a junction it will cut out. That is until it warms up then it runs fine.

Can even drive it for 20 minutes, park then a few hours later start it and it runs ok. Only seems to happen when stone cold.

Any ideas? No CEL either

If only when cold - perhaps a temperature sensor.

This months "Car Mechanics" has an article on the 1.25 Duratec with the Siemens ECU, which is similar to the 1.4 and 1.6 engines so may give you a clue !

Needs hooking up to a scan tool to look at some live data.
