Cone filter damage engine? Mk7.5 Zetec S.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First post here so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area or something!

I've been looking at this intake kit from CEUK .. https://www.carenhancementsuk.co.uk/collections/ford-fiesta-mk7-5/products/ceuk-1l-ecoboost-enhanced-intake-system

They claim 5-10bhp increase (hmm) but the main thing I'm interested in is the improvement in the sound. Check out this video of the kit on an otherwise stock Fiesta:

My question is - will a cone filter potentially damage the engine in the long run? I've read that using a cone filter will allow more particles of debris into the engine, and can cause damage over time? If this is the case, is there an alternative way to achieve the sound heard in the video (without installing a bov) - could silicone hoses + K&N Panel Filter yield similar results?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
