Focus speed limiter and cruise control problems

Featured Replies

I have a 67 plate Focus 1.5 tdci manual and for the last few weeks noticed maybe once or twice a week the speed limiter and cruise control will not operate, push either button on the steering wheel a few times nothing happens. Turn ignition off and on and both can be enabled again.

Also the speed limiter and cruise control when in use can sometimes disengage themselves with nothing being touched, no other vehicles around.

My daily commute is a round trip of about 15 miles on the M20 through the 50mph long term roadworks so I really do use the limiter mostly and if I am outside rush hour sometimes cruise control.

The car is booked in for Haynes to have a look later this month just wondered if anyone else had a similar issue?

Cheers

Mine has a similar problem. Just last Monday I got an "ACC unavailable" message on the display and the buttons didn't work. It was only when I went round a roundabout on full lock that the buttons started working again. I suspect that there is a loose connection somewhere. The cruise control will disengage if the CAN bus loses contact with the buttons.

The main dealer replaced the physical cruise/limiter switch

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I have the same car, same engine with a manual gearbox, my speed limiter and CC work fine, however when the speed limiter is set and the engine starts back up from the start/stop cycle, the limiter turns off on its own. What interesting is that when I go back to enable it, it remembers the last value. Note that this happens after I press on the clutch pedal. The battery is fine holding 80% charge. Id there any connection between the clutch pedal (or sensors) to the limiter?

That's normal, I believe

Hi Dave, I know it's normal if I shut the engine down by pressing the keyless start button, however this used to work when the car shut the engine for stop/start, about 3 years ago. Any ideas?

Other than the battery being low, no.

Turn off S/S maybe?

Yes, that would sort the issue in the short term, but won't solve the problem. Are there any tests I can run, any modules or components to check?
