Mk2.5 wheel control stalk

Featured Replies

Morning all, my control stalk has started randomly dying, been working fine, got a new gps radio a good while back and stalk worked perfectly then the last few days, it stops, then after a while of driving it working again for 2 volume changes then stops, or I can change a song before it stops etc, before I have a look into it thought I'd come here to see if it's a dodgy connection somewhere or it's getting old and worn? Etc.

 Cheers.

Sounds like a loose connection to me.

Given that you've replaced the head unit I'd guess that any loose connection will be on that end, however, removing the stalk is very easy so it's probably worth checking there too. Just use a small screwdriver to depress the tab on the back of it.

It could also possibly be that you've pinched the wire when you've reseated your radio and it's created an intermittent short.

Or it could be a faulty radio.

You could try re-seating everything, if it still acts up then put your original radio back in and see how it goes.

On my Android head unit you can reprogram the buttons for short/long presses too, it's in the settings.

Sorry it's a late reply, I've had the radio in for a fair few months and it's just started, but I'm guessing it's a loose wire, when I get chance I'll take both out and replug them both back in and see, cheers
